EL-Amin Flourish with 15th IBB Cup Crown



Polo kings, Kaduna EL-Amin should have a year to remember in 2015. Not only will they celebrate their 2oth anniversary as the most successful polo team in Nigeria, they started the year with a smashing roar, winning their 15th back-to-back IBB Cup title in Minna recently.

As in all high stake polo competitions in the country, the fight was always going to be a three-split battle pitching Kaduna, Katsina and Bauchi and these three major centers were ably represented when the battle for the Minna top prize got underway at the IBB Sports Complex in the Niger State capital city.

It was an exciting week of top class polo played out under the most friendly atmosphere you can find anywhere in the land. And at the end of the historic event that attracted the top echelon of the society, the biggest winner were the Mohammad Babangida’s  EL-Amin that outpaced all comers to keep their treasured IBB Cup title.

Nigeria Throbs with Africa’s First Beach Polo Tournament


Your must read  Globalpolo.blogspot.com team was part of the crowd at the fantastic Event Centre ground of the Eko Atlantic City to witness a piece of polo history being made in Africa.  Nigeria’s biggest city and financial hub, Lagos was at its grandest moment hosting the first ever Beach Polo Tournament in the continent.
The maiden edition of Eko Atlantic City Beach Polo Tournament which ended lasted recently was exciting for both participants and the appreciative audience not only because it was the first of its kind in the country but also because the four-day event featured the best  players and teams drawn from Nigeria and the expatriate communities.
The glamorous tournament will be remembered for thrilling games and the incredible passion of the players and the teeming polo buffs from across the country and beyond, who throng the event in their droves to bath in the excitement of the historic polo extravaganza.
After four days of top class polo, the inaugural event climaxed on high with Lagos Polo and Caverton teams carting home carting home the major titles at stake in what was undoubtedly, the latest introduction and the first ever Beach Polo in the country,  a century and eleven years since the game was  first played in Lagos.
